Welsh language
Visitor sign-in in Welsh and English.
ReceptionOS lets visitors sign in on the kiosk in Cymraeg or English, and in five other languages. Cymraeg is available on the kiosk.
The kiosk greets visitors with “Bore da. Croeso i Pennardine House, cofnodwch isod.” “Good morning. Welcome to Pennardine House, please sign in below.”
Cymraeg on the kiosk.
Your own welcome text, notices and documents show exactly as you wrote them.
- The kiosk is available in seven languages, with Cymraeg listed first, then English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Dutch, and visitors can switch on every screen.
- Each site can show its own logo, colour, name, welcome text and privacy notice, plus scheduled on-screen notices.
Large, clear and on your own tablet.
Built for touch, on the iPad or Android tablet you already have.
- The kiosk runs on the iPad or Android tablet you already have, installed from the browser with no app store.
- The kiosk is built for touch, with 64 px minimum tap targets and 20 px minimum text, it follows the tablet's high-contrast and reduced-motion settings, and it never uses colour as the only signal.
What a public body asks next.
Where the data lives, and how long it stays.
- ReceptionOS runs on Cloudflare, and your records and files are stored in Western Europe.
- Retention is set for each site from 1 to 3,650 days (395 by default), and expired visits and photos are deleted automatically every night.
- A person's visits, bookings, pre-registrations, document acceptances, photos and car park exemption records are erased together, by an owner in the admin portal or by us on request.
Honest limits
What to know about the Welsh.
What is in Welsh today, and what is not.
- Staff use the admin portal in English.
- The kiosk starts in English. A visitor chooses Cymraeg from the language control, which is on every screen, and the choice stays on the tablet until it is changed.
- The Welsh on the kiosk is a machine-assisted draft that is still waiting for review by a Welsh speaker.
Welsh language standards
A kiosk in Cymraeg is one part.
Many public bodies in Wales have to follow Welsh language standards, and some of those cover self-service machines. Which standards apply depends on the body, so check yours first. A visitor kiosk that works in Cymraeg helps with one part of that. It is not a guarantee that a body has met its standards.
What public buyers should know we don’t have yet
We don’t hold ISO 27001 or SOC 2 either.
- ReceptionOS doesn't hold Cyber Essentials yet. Planned
- ReceptionOS hasn't had an independent penetration test yet. Planned
FAQ
Questions buyers ask us.
Does ReceptionOS have a Welsh-language kiosk?
Yes. Cymraeg is available on the kiosk, first in a list of seven languages, and visitors can switch language on every screen.
Which language does the kiosk start in?
English. A visitor chooses Cymraeg from the language control, which is on every screen, and the choice stays on the tablet until it is changed. There isn’t a setting to start a site in Welsh today.
Has the Welsh been reviewed?
Not yet. The Welsh on the kiosk is a machine-assisted draft that is still waiting for review by a Welsh speaker. If Welsh matters to your rollout, see the screens at the demo and have your own Welsh speakers read them.
Can we use our own Welsh text and documents?
Yes. Your own welcome text, notices and documents show on the kiosk exactly as you wrote them, in Welsh or any other language.
Is the admin portal available in Welsh?
No. The admin portal is English only. The kiosk is the part your visitors use.
Does a Welsh kiosk cover our Welsh language standards duties?
It helps with one part: visitors can use the kiosk in Cymraeg. Which standards apply depends on your body, and a kiosk alone doesn’t settle them, so check with the Welsh Language Commissioner.

Book a 20-minute demo on video, or on site in South Wales. If it fits, we’ll set up a 30-day pilot on a tablet you already own.
In 20 minutes we’ll show you:
- The kiosk in English, then Cymraeg
- A contractor held for approval
- A host’s email arriving
- A live roll-call across two phones, one losing signal
We reply within one working day.
